Dr. Shri Dattatreya Narayan alias Appasaheb Dharmadhikari Back

A great social reformist, Shri Appasaheb Dharmadhikari has been continuously spreading his teaching, based on saintly wisdom, for more than four decades. Through these teaching he has been achieving social awakening by promoting awareness. This invaluable work is being done with total self-abnegation. Both individual and social level of thinking has been uplifted amongst the followers. Shri Appasaheb is of a firm belief that every individual should be aware of his social obligation of repaying his social debts that one has incurred while achieving individual progress. He has initiated many social oriented projects to convert his teaching into practical reality. National integration, social unity, eradicating blind faith, de-addiction, adult literacy, removing dowry system, tree plantation and nurturing, blood donation camps, cleaning village surrounding etc. are some of the projects undertaken for the sake of national progress. These projects have been successfully implemented at various levels of rural and urban sectors.

The untiring efforts of this great social reformer in achieving individual, social and national development was keenly noted by the humble and courteous members of Padmashree Dr. D.Y. Patil university. In this context a decision to honour Shri Appasaheb, by awarding D.Litt. was taken by this university. The eight convocation programme of D.Y. Patil University was held at D.Y. Patil stadium, Nerul, on 4th April 2014. The function was attended by many dignitaries amidst thousands of student. Vice chancellor Dr. B.P. sable, in the August presence of Hon’ble Governor of Bihar Dr. D. Y. Patil, accompanied by Dr. Vijay Patil, Dr. Ajinkya Patil and many official members of the university, awarded Doctorate of literature (D.Litt.) (Honoris Causa) to Shri Appasaheb Dharmadhikari. The event was greeted by a resounding applause.
