Dr. Shri Narayan Vishnu alias Nanasaheb Dharmadhikari is today remembered out of extreme respect and with deep sense of gratitude as a fiery patron of humanity as religion.
He spent his entire life in social awakening achieving various goal of reformation de-addicting the addicts, removing blind faith and dowry system, spreading adult literacy, achieving national integration, according a place of respect for women in family, guiding children towards a refined culture and devoting himself to many similar kind of work which would serve national purpose.
The Government of Maharashtra declared its highest civil award of the year 2008 in the name of Dr. Shri Narayan Vishnu Dharmadhikari for social awareness work on 1st May 2008. However on 8th July 2008, Dr. Shri Nanasaheb passed away. Hence this award was received by his eldest son Dr. Shri Dattatreya Narayan alias Appasaheb Dharmadhikari on 25th November 2008 at Kharghar, New Mumbai. This award was given at the hands of the then Chief Minister of Maharashtra Honourable Shri Vilasraoji Deshmukh at a grand function. A land of 510 acres of area was made available for this function by CIDCO. This function was attended by mammoth crowd of over 40 lakh people from every nook and corner of the country. This festive ceremony had broken all previous records of a human assembly at a single venue. This event has been registered in the year 2010 edition of Limca Book of Records.
